Despite being a beloved superhero, Spider-Man has experienced some of the most brutal and horrific deaths in the Marvel universe. As a street-level hero, he lacks the invulnerability of other Marvel heroes, making him vulnerable to well-placed attacks. Throughout the Marvel multiverse, Spider-Man has suffered multiple gruesome deaths, from having his life force drained by the symbiote to being murdered by various enemies. The image provided shows one such instance where Spider-Man was beaten to death by Morlun.

Spider-Man, one of Marvel's greatest heroes, has experienced numerous horrifying deaths throughout his comic history. Despite being a beloved character, Spider-Man has faced some of the most gruesome deaths compared to other superheroes.
While Spider-Man possesses remarkable power, he is still primarily a street-level hero. Unlike characters Thor or Hulk who have borderline invulnerability, Spider-Man is just a man with strength and agility. This means that even a well-placed bullet can be fatal for him. As a result, there are various versions across the Marvel mult where Spider-Man meets a horrific death instead of successfully surviving dangerous encounters.
One example is Peter Parker wears the black symbiote suit, which he obtains during the events of Secret Wars after old costume is destroyed. In some versions of the story, Peter fails to the alien suit in time and it permanently bonds with him. The symbiote then drains his life force, causing him to age rapidly and die within weeks as if he had lived50 years.
Another notable death involves Doctor Octopus stealing Peter's life and identity in The Amazing Spider-Man #700. In this storyline, Doctor Octopus swaps bodies with Peter Parker takes over as Spider-Man while trapping Peter in Octavius' dying body.
These examples illustrate how despite being an iconic hero within Marvel's universe, Spider-Man has faced tragic fates that emphasize his vulnerability as an ordinary human dealing with extraordinary challenges.Doctor Octopus, one of Peter's most intelligent adversaries, comes up with a plan for revenge against Spider-Man as he faces his own mortality. He creates a device that allows him to transfer his consciousness into Peter's body, becoming the Superior Spider-Man. Despite Peter's efforts to reclaim his body, he ultimately fails and dies as Doctor Octopus's body deteriorates. Doctor Octopus then assumes Peter's identity and lives his life for several years, unbeknownst to Peter's friends.
In the comic book Infinity Gauntlet #4, Thanos uses the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet to wage war on the universe. He creates his perfect love interest, Terraxia, and kills the Avengers. Terraxia beats Spider-Man to death with a rock, making for a particularly brutal and inglorious end for the hero.
In Ultimate Spider-Man #160, the Green Goblin inflicts a brutal ending on Ultimate Spider-Man, showing that Peter Parker is not invincible and can suffer a tragic fate.Marvel has a vast multiverse that explores different versions of its heroes, and one of the most successful examples is Ultimate Spider-Man. This version of Peter Parker has his own unique story, unencumbered by decades of character history and continuity. Unfortunately, his story ends in tragedy when he gets shot while trying to save Captain America from the Punisher. Peter then has to fight the Sinister Six as they try to attack his family in Queens. After defeating most of the Sinister Six, Spider-Man faces off against the Green Goblin in an intense one-on-one battle. Although he manages to save his family, Spider-Man dies from his wounds shortly after.
In another alternate universe, Spider-Man meets a gruesome end at the hands of a demonic Wolverine. In this story, a deranged wizard named Kulan Gath transforms Manhattan into a medieval kingdom, turning everyone in the city, including the X-Men, into medieval versions of themselves. However, Spider-Man is unaffected by the spell. Kulan captures Peter Parker and intends to torture and kill him to empower his spell to affect the entire world. This involves crucifying Peter, and when Spider-Man breaks free, he is struck down by a spell and dies on the spot. Fortunately, Dr. Strange is able to use his magic to reverse time and save everyone.Spider-Man and Wolverine have worked together and have respect for each other, but things take a disturbing turn in What If #6. In an alternate outcome, the X-Men are possessed during X-Men: Inferno, leading to a world overrun by demons. Only a few heroes are left, including She-Hulk and Spider-Man. She-Hulk is killed by her demonic cousin and Spider-Man is brutally stabbed to death by Wolverine.
In Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again #2, Deadpool is manipulated by Red Skull and goes on a killing spree, targeting every hero. The most brutal death is when Deadpool, wearing the Venom symbiote, ambushes and eats Spider-Man's brain while he is helpless to stop him.
In Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #11, Dr. Doom utterly obliterates the Avengers, including Spider-Man, in a brutal turn of events. In many Marvel stories, powerful items such as the Cosmic Cube and the Infinity Stones often fall into the hands of villains. This was the case during Marvel's original 1984 Secret Wars event, where Dr. Doom stole the powers of the Beyonder. This allowed Dr. Doom to do whatever he pleased, and during a meeting of the Avengers, he used his new powers to completely obliterate them, including Spider-Man. This is significant because it is one of the rare instances where Spider-Man has died in Earth-616 continuity.
The Marvel Zombies series explores one of the darkest universes in Marvel's catalog. In this twisted world, a virus called the Gospel of Hunger infects every hero and villain on Earth, turning them into flesh-craving monsters. Spider-Man is bitten by Colonel America and becomes a carrier for the virus, ultimately leading him to consume Aunt May and Mary Jane, transforming him into a creature driven by hunger.
In Marvel Zombies Return #1, Sandman manages to murder Spider-Man from the inside out, further adding to the grim and macabre nature of the Marvel Zombies universe. The creatures in Marvel Zombies are driven to invade other universes and feed on people. This leads an infected Spider-Man to Earth-Z, which is still untainted. Though he tries to resist, Zombie Spider-Man ends up killing and consuming the Sinister Six, leaving only Sandman alive. When Earth-Z's Spider-Man encounters Sandman, who has been driven mad by Zombie Spider-Man, Sandman attacks and kills him in a brutal and horrific manner.
