Darkseid is one of DC's most powerful villains, and one God is intentionally going to war with him for destruction, rather than victory.

Gog fully intends to die fighting Darkseid, and only seeks death as a means of fulfilling his dark desires and obtaining the Anti-Life Equation from the New God.

God, a member of the Then-Gods of Urgrund, waged a bloody war against other Then-Gods in an unknown conflict. Gog, the only one who sought peace, pleaded with his people to stop the bloodshed, which angered the other gods and led them to banish him into the void of space. Eventually, the Then-Gods were destroyed by their own forces and welcomed into Heaven for their valiant battle. Gog desperately yearns to join them in that glorious realm, and he plans to attain entry by sacrificing himself in a bloody showdown against the enigmatic Darkseid.

Gog craves the thrill of battle and the intoxicating rush of defeating his nemesis, Darkseid. To be slain by this formidable foe in the pursuit of salvation would be Gog's greatest accomplishment, his eternal reward in the celestial realm of Heaven. Yet, despite the formidable odds stacked against him, Gog finds himself drawn to this dangerous battle, driven by an unwavering belief that his valiant efforts will earn him acceptance into the heavenly realm.

Despite their immense power, Gog and Darkseid are locked in an eternal battle for supremacy. Gog craves the thrill of a glorious demise and seeks to end his life with a blaze of glory, while Darkseid has relentlessly pursued the conquering of the universe. Their fight carries no defeat for either, and DC Comics' heroes find themselves battling an impossible dilemma: preventing the inevitable clash of these two formidable deities and preserving the existence of the DC Comics multiverse.
