Knuckles is a spin-off of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise, featuring Idris Elba reprising his role as the Echidna. The show follows Knuckles on a new adventure, where he meets new allies and faces new foes. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the sequel to the 2022 movie, with the addition of the antagonist Shadow the Hedgehog causing trouble for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

Paramount+ unveiled a new Knuckles trailer during the Super Bowl LVIII, providing a deeper look into the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff show.
Knuckles Is Repeating What Made the First Sonic So Great, showcasing the duo's comedic chemistry and their journey to train Wade to become a more capable warrior. The brief teaser in particular highlights their playful banter, with Wade eager to bond with the titular hero by coming up with various nicknames for him, including "Knuckolas Cage."
The first Sonic the Hedgehog largely rode with the buddy comedy dynamic between Tom Hardy's character and Ben Schwartz's titular protagonist, echoing the genre's past with 2011's "Hop." While the interaction between Sonic and Tom felt more genuine and packed with banter and opportunities for both characters to shine, the sequel kept Tom primarily in a human-focused narrative, but the titular hedgehog still enjoyed plenty of buddy comedy moments with Tails and Knuckles.
With Knuckles focused on Elba's titular character and Pally's Wade, the spinoff provides a unique opportunity to explore their dynamic and develop Wade's character in a more substantial way, potentially setting him up for a more prominent role in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise later this year.
