Love Is Blind season 6 featured participant Matthew, who was arguably the worst casting choice in franchise history. Despite his efforts to form meaningful connections with various women, he made numerous significant fumbles throughout the season, ultimately failing to find lasting love.

Love Is Blind seasons past have hosted a ton of drama among the cast members looking for love. Whether it's been love triangles, unexpected personal connections from the real world, or minds that have changed upon the reveal, there has been no shortage of entertainment value in the show. Love Is Blind seasons 1-5 have seen only seven out of the twenty couples who got engaged follow through with marriage and stay together. Despite the mild success rate, the hit Netflix reality show has proved to entertain viewers with its unique premise and process the love hopefuls go through. However, one cast member, Matthew, has an extremely difficult personality and has caused several problems during the course of the show.

"Matthew's personality clash with the show's purpose, which centers around vulnerability and emotional connection, made him an unsuitable casting choice. While he attempted to participate, his rigid behavior and disregard for their answers indicated that he was not a suitable fit for the show's premise."

Matthew said that "first interactions" are not his "strong suit" and believes that emotions are a "sign of weakness." He also compared himself to Superman in the way that he has a "superficial" personality, but that it worked for him. Matthew clearly has a lot of superficial personality aspects that do not make him a good candidate to be on a show like Love Is Blind. Participants on the show need to be receptive, willing to give people a chance, and emotionally available, and Matthew exhibits none of these traits.

Matthew's behavior towards AD and Amber was characterized by a lack of respect and emotional manipulation. He repeatedly shared personal and intimate information, leading to a sense of closeness but ultimately jeopardizing their relationships. It was evident that Matthew's actions were motivated by a desire to exert control and manipulate their feelings.

AD and Amber's conversation continued, and that's when Amber felt the need to leave. AD confronted Matthew further, and after a heated argument, she realized his behavior completely turned her off. Matthew's manipulation and attempts to convince her with his words ultimately led to him realizing he had crossed a line that she could no longer tolerate. His behavior showed a lack of accountability and integrity, which further raised concerns about his suitability for the show.

Love Is Blind season 6 (via Netflix) ended prematurely due to Matthew's disruptive behavior. His mission to control the narrative was misguided, as evidenced by his repeated narrative that America would like him once the season aired. Despite his desire for attention, Matthew ultimately failed to secure the screen time he desired, and AD called him out for his excessive focus on the lights, camera, and action.

Despite his attempts to engage and interact with the Love Is Blind female cast members, Matthew's behavior displayed a lack of respect and consideration towards them. He exhibited rudeness towards his male cast mates, which created a negative and uncomfortable atmosphere. Additionally, his interactions with AD were often disregarded by the other men, indicating a disconnect and a lack of camaraderie within the group.

Matthew's behavior on Love Is Blind was consistently erratic and inconsistent. While he displayed some of the characteristics of other controversial contestants like Bartise Bowden and Irina Solomonova, his actions were ultimately less egregious than those of those individuals. Matthew's lack of authenticity, ulterior motives, and struggles with AD and Amber were noteworthy, but they were not as severe as those displayed by other cast members. Additionally, his early exit, rudeness towards female cast members, and lack of emotional availability raised concerns about his suitability for the show.

Season 6 episodes 7-9 will air on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
