The gear crafted at the Adamantine Forge is rare and provides significant enhancements to builds, making them some of the best equipment obtainable early in the game. These items are so exceptional that you'll likely continue using some of them through Act 2 and even into Act 3.
Locating Adamantine Forge Moulds & Mithral Ore in Baldur’s Gate 3 Insights into Crafting Adamantine Forge Items
The primary challenge with Adamantine Forge items is their scarcity. In each run, you can only craft two out of the six available items. To create these items, you must gather special items known as Moulds. For instance, to craft the Adamantine Longsword, you need the Longsword Mould in your inventory. These Moulds are dispersed across various Grymforge locations. Besides Moulds, you also require one Mithral Ore for each equipment piece you wish to craft in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The rarity of Mithral Ore restricts the crafting of Adamantine Forge items to just two per run in Baldur's Gate 3. Mithral Ore can be sourced from two Mithral Veins within the Grymforge map. These Mithral Veins appear as large stones with blue accents. The first vein is located on a path to the left of the stairs leading down to the Adamantine Forge, across a lava river, with approximate coordinates of X: -557, Y: 278. Simply break the Vein in Baldur’s Gate 3 and gather the Mithral Ore from the ground.
Before crossing the river, be prepared for an ambush by a group of Magma Mephits. Exercise caution, as they possess the ability to toss your characters into the lava.
The second Mithral Ore can be found in proximity to the Underdark - Ancient Forge teleport point. Once there, proceed southward along a concealed path, traverse some lava, and you'll reach it. For reference, the approximate coordinates of the second Mithral Ore are X: -645, Y: 260. After acquiring the Mithral Ores and Moulds, make your way to the Adamantine Forge in Baldur's Gate 3. If you haven't already, defeat Grym and craft the unique items.

For instance, the Adamantine Splint Armour stands out as a top choice for Paladins, whereas the Scimitar suits Rogues well. However, one must choose wisely, as the rewards from the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3 are few and far between.
Among the notable items craftable in the Adamantine Forge are:
- Adamantine Shield: A rare shield crafted using a Shield Mould and Mithral Ore. It not only provides +2 Armor Class (AC) but also has a special effect: when a melee attack misses, the attacker is disoriented for 2 turns. Additionally, it unlocks the Shield Bash skill, allowing you to react to melee attacks by knocking enemies prone, unless they succeed a Dexterity saving throw. Wearers of this shield are also immune to critical hits.
- Adamantine Scale Mail: This very rare medium armor, crafted with a Scale Mail Mould and Mithral Ore, offers a substantial 16 AC. It reduces all incoming damage by 1 and has a similar disorienting effect on melee attackers. Like the shield, it prevents critical hits and imposes a disadvantage on stealth checks.
