DC has announced two exciting additions to its popular Young Adult graphic novel line—one featuring a young Diana and another starring Jaime Reyes. These new titles will showcase Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle in fresh, engaging stories aimed at young readers.
Jaime Reyes, following his debut in the DCEU, returns in an original graphic novel. This marks his first YA graphic novel appearance, capturing his journey from his initial comic appearance in Infinite Crisis #5 in 2006 to his role as the primary Blue Beetle. The upcoming graphic novel, "This Land is Our Land," created by Julio Anta, Jacoby Salcedo, and Francesco Segala, is set to release in early October. It will explore contemporary issues, particularly those affecting the Latinx community, including immigration and border life, and will be set in Jaime's hometown of El Paso, Texas.
On the other hand, Wonder Woman's new graphic novel will focus on her younger self and a mystery in Themyscira. "Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana," crafted by Jordie Bellaire and Paulina Ganucheau, is a compilation of stories originally featured in Wonder Woman #770-779, #785-796, and the Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular. This graphic novel, releasing in early August, will follow young Diana as she uncovers hidden truths about Themyscira's history, leading her to seek justice and truth.
DC's YA graphic novels have been well-received, with Wonder Woman previously starring in titles like "Wonder Woman: Warbringer," "Diana: Princess of the Amazons," and "Diana and Nubia: Princesses of the Amazons." Nubia also had her own graphic novel, "Nubia: Real One."
In addition to these titles, DC is re-releasing the satirical miniseries "Prez," about the first teenage president, Beth Ross, in a new YA graphic novel.
Both graphic novels, "Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana" and "This Land is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story," are anticipated releases, continuing DC's trend of introducing classic characters to young audiences with contemporary, relatable stories. "Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana" will be available on August 6, 2024, and "This Land is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story" will be available on October 1, 2024.
