Thor's romantic history includes relationships with mortal friends, Asgardian allies, and even villainous enchantresses. His love life is often affected by complex situations such as love spells and mistaken identities. Jane Foster is depicted as the most important person in Thor's life and has undergone her own personal growth journey.

Thor #314 by Doug Moench and Keith Pollard
Thor meets Shawna Lynde while she is working as a nurse in a hospital. The two develop a romantic relationship, and Shawna even learns about Thor's true identity as the God of Thunder. However, their love is short-lived as Shawna tragically dies in a battle between Thor and his enemies. Her death deeply affects Thor and serves as a reminder of the vulnerability of mortals.
Thor and Shawna Lynde were not meant to be together, but their relationship plays a vital role in the character's development. When Thor is still in his human form as Donald Blake, he meets Shawna, a fellow medical student who later becomes a physician. They form a friendship and then a romantic relationship. However, things become complicated when Thor's two identities start to blur, leading Shawna to believe that Donald Blake is dating his cousin, who is actually Lady Sif. Unable to continue living a double life, Donald Blake disappears and Thor has Shawna's memory erased.
Enchantress, the sister of Thor's love interest Lorelei, is a villainous Asgardian who often aligns herself with Loki. Despite this, she is not immune to having feelings for Thor and has successfully cast love spells on him multiple times. However, these spells never last long, and Thor realizes that he does not truly love her. In one storyline, Thor and Enchantress are together without any enchantment, even having a child together. Despite this, Thor is unhappy with the situation and goes back in time to prevent it from happening.
Bloodaxe, who first appeared in Thor #392, is another important character in Thor's story.
During a strange time for Thor fans, the Asgardian is sent into the body of the human Eric Masterson by his father, Odin. Things get even stranger when Jackie Lukus is introduced. Jackie is the normal, human girlfriend of Eric Masterson, but when she comes across Scurge the Executioner's axe, she becomes Bloodaxe. Bloodaxe is a vigilante with powers gifted from the evil in the axe, which is transferred to whoever touches it. The superhero realm does not benefit Jackie, as she first has a Norse mythology character enter her boyfriend's consciousness, and then she is turned into a burly, ne'er do well. The lesson learned is to never pick up an axe that isn't yours!
6 Lorelei First Appearance: Thor #337 by Walter Simonson
The relationship between Lorelei and Thor is not what it seems, as it is engineered by the mischievous Loki. Lorelei, the sister of Enchantress, has feelings for Thor and is persuaded by Loki to use her magical talents to cast a love spell on him. Loki's plan is to distract Thor and gain access to Asgard's throne, but his attempts are foiled by Heimdall. Thor eventually realizes that he has been under a spell and does not truly love her. In a twist of fate, Lorelei ends up falling for Loki himself.
5 She-Hulk First Appearance: Savage She-Hulk #1 by Stan Lee and John Buscema
The Disney+ series has made She-Hulk more well-known to audiences, but one aspect not explored on the show is her relationship with Thor Odinson. She-Hulk gets to know the Norse god better while working with him to fight against the Dark Celestials, forming a bond with him. Initially, she misunderstands Thor's intentions, thinking he is only interested in hanging out with her as buddies in her Hulk form. However, Thor clarifies that he is actually interested in Jennifer Walters and just didn't know how to approach a first date. Unfortunately, their relationship does not last due to their superhero duties.
In the Ultimate Universe, Valkyrie and Thor are in a relationship and she gains powers from being with him. Despite Thor's reckless nature, Valkyrie helps him become a more likable Norse god. When Valkyrie dies, Thor attempts to reclaim her soul in Valhalla, showing his deep love for her.
In the comics, Brunnhilde, the Valkyrie, first appears in Defenders #4.
A perfect match in the eyes of the gods, Brunnhilde seems to be the ideal partner for Thor. As a Valkyrie and a warrior, she shares Thor's personality and mindset, making them seem like they were made for each other. In a twist of fate, Odin curses them to live as mortals on Earth, where they fall in love without any memory of their true selves. Tragedy strikes when Thor, in his mortal form, dies, leading Odin to return Brunnhilde and their son to their Asgardian forms but erasing their memories of their time on Earth. As the saying goes, you can't miss what you don't know.
2 Sif First Appearance: Journey Into Mystery #102 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby
Known as Thor's loyal friend and fellow warrior, Sif was actually his first love. She has always been there for him, offering unconditional love while also speaking up when necessary. Despite being engaged to Thor at one point, he often overlooks her in favor of others, particularly Jane Foster. With their shared history and Sif's lingering feelings for Thor, there could be a chance for them to rekindle their relationship in the future. For now, Sif is keeping herself busy as the guardian of the Bifrost, a role she assumed after her brother Heimdall.
1 Jane Foster First Appearance: Journey Into Mystery #84 by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby
Jane Foster is an unavoidable love interest for Thor in the eyes of Marvel audiences, and she is arguably the love of the Asgardian's life. A compassionate and down-to-Earth mortal, Jane has had a fascinating character development that rivals that of her partner. Their first meeting occurs when Thor is living on Earth under the name Donald Blake, and Jane starts as his nurse before eventually becoming a doctor. She later takes up Thor's mantle and eventually becomes Valkyrie. As a result, Jane is a love interest who can stand on her own as an interesting and independent character. Throughout it all, Jane has remained a source of warmth and strength for Thor, sharing similar views with him on certain matters while also contrasting him in ways that help make him more level-headed and sentimental.
