Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is back, and it's time for these classic Ghostbusters ghosts to make a comeback. These 10 ghosts have been missed dearly in the recent films, and their return in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is highly anticipated.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is the highly-anticipated sequel to the film that revived the franchise, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Ghostbusters: Afterlife acted as a sequel to the original two films, with it continuing the story of the original movies while also introducing some new characters. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire further integrates these new characters into the Ghostbusters lore, with the sequel bringing the gang back to New York and having them once again team up with the original Ghostbusters. With the original Ghostbusters finally back in business, some of the franchise's original ghosts should return as well.

Slimer is arguably the Ghostbusters franchise's most iconic ghost, and despite his small role in the original film, he should make a triumphant return in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Despite Slimer's frequent appearances on Ghostbusters merchandise, the green ghoul actually did appear in Ghostbusters: Afterlife for unknown reasons. However, now that the team is back in New York, it would make perfect sense for Slimer to make a triumphant return and get back into the mischief that caused his first encounter with the Ghostbusters all those years ago.

Muncher is the successor to Slimer in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and while he made his first appearance in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, he will return in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. This film focuses on ghosts like Muncher rather than classic ghosts like Slimer, giving Ghostbusters: Afterlife its own identity. Although the film will have to explain how he got to New York City, it will be worth it to see his return once again.

One of the most popular ghosts from the original two Ghostbusters movies is Vigo the Carpathian, with him being the main antagonist of Ghostbusters II. Although Vigo was defeated at the end of the original sequel, it is entirely possible that he could return through another painting or statue in a future sequel.

The Dream Ghost is one of the most iconic creatures from the original Ghostbusters, with the film's climax revolving around a giant manifestation of the mascot that destroys much of New York City. Tiny versions of the Dream Ghost appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with these creatures being some of the film's main mascots. While it would be nice to see these versions return as well, the larger Dream Ghost mascot really needs to make an appearance, calling back to the original Ghostbusters. One of the most well-remembered jokes from the original Ghostbusters centers around the Dream Ghost, and this apparition needs to reappear in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire as well. In the original film, a scene takes place in which a ghost wakes Ray up and performs oral sex on him. While the return of this ghost would definitely be more toned down due to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and its predecessor being less adult than the original movies, it would be a nice nod to the fans to have this character return. The Zombie Taxi Driver Another popular ghost from the original Ghostbusters is the Zombie Taxi Driver, a character that should return in the upcoming film. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is finally bringing the franchise back to New York City, meaning that much of the city's iconography needs to appear in the film as well. Taxis are incredibly important to the feel of New York, and having the Zombie Taxi Driver return will cement that the original film's setting is truly back in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

The Library Ghost is one of the first ghosts seen in the original Ghostbusters film, and her significance to the franchise means that she should make a return in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. In the original film, the Library Ghost haunts the New York City Public Library, and the team is enlisted to take her down. However, in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Library Ghost is said to haunt a building in the same location as the New York City Public Library.

The Icon Ghost is one of the ghosts that appears in the Ghostbusters logo, but many viewers don't remember that this ghost is actually a character in the franchise. A giant version of the Icon Ghost appears in the Ghostbusters 2016 reboot, which is one of the film's coolest ideas. Bringing the Icon Ghost back would be a great way to pay homage to the often-forgotten Ghostbusters movie while also connecting the iconic Ghostbusters logo back to the franchise's canon.Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is giving Gozer, the main villain of the franchise, a major promotion, making them the perfect replacement for Harold Ramis' iconic role as Egon. This would be a major boost for the franchise and would ensure that Gozer is a major threat in the upcoming sequel.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire picks up where the first film left off, featuring a new generation of ghost hunters led by Phoebe (Mckenna Grace), Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Podcast (Logan Kim), who received help from the original team in the previous movie. Paul Rudd returns as Gary Grooberson, and franchise co-creator Ivan Reitman returns to write and produce.
